Recently, Hesai Technology, headquartered in Jiading, Shanghai, introduced the world’s inaugural 6D full-color LiDAR hypersensitive chip, known as the Picasso SPAD-SoC. This chip enables pixel-level native integration of color sensing and Time-of-Flight (TOF) ranging capabilities directly at the chip level. It overcomes the constraints of conventional LiDAR systems, which are limited to capturing merely 3D spatial coordinates, thereby heralding a new epoch of 'full-color perception' for LiDAR technology. The Picasso SPAD-SoC boasts a photon detection efficiency surpassing 40%, placing it among the elite globally. It supports up to 4320-line full-color 4K ultra-high-definition perception, with an impressive maximum detection range of 600 meters. The Hesai ETX series LiDAR, which incorporates this cutting-edge chip, is anticipated to commence mass production and delivery in the latter half of this year. Moreover, it is slated for widespread deployment in flagship models from various automakers between 2027 and 2028.
