On June 2, it was reported that the Spanish government of the Galicia Autonomous Community recently made an announcement: SAIC Motor, a Chinese automotive giant, will construct its first electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in Europe within this region. Rueda, the president of the Galicia Autonomous Community government, disclosed to the media on the 1st that this project entails an initial investment of €200 million and is projected to generate over 2,300 employment opportunities. Construction of the plant is slated to commence in 2027, with operations expected to commence by the end of 2028. Situated in Ferrol, La Coruña Province, the facility is anticipated to boast an annual production capacity of 120,000 vehicles. Furthermore, the project encompasses the establishment of an industrial zone adjacent to the local port, facilitating vehicle assembly and transportation.
