On June 1, Cui Dongshu highlighted in an article that from January to April 2026, China secured a 61% share of the global market for new energy passenger vehicles. Specifically, the market share for battery electric vehicles (BEVs) stood at 56%, while that for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) surged impressively to 71%. During this same period, buoyed by the recovery of the European new energy market, the combined sales of new energy vehicles in countries outside China reached 2.63 million units. This marks a year-on-year increase of 25%, approaching the average sales levels of the previous two years. Thanks to the robust export performance of China's domestically-owned new energy passenger vehicle brands, particularly when contrasted with market changes in the United States, the sales share of these self-owned brands in overseas markets witnessed a notable increase. In 2025, this share already reached 15.8%, and by 2026, it had jumped to 23%.
