On May 25, the Federation of Thai Industries reported that, impacted by the conflict in the Middle East and escalating energy prices, Thailand's car production in April witnessed a 0.44% year-on-year decrease, reaching 103,794 units. This marks the lowest production level in the past five years, following a 2.69% year-on-year increase in March. During the same timeframe, car exports experienced an 8.43% decline, totaling 60,190 units. Meanwhile, domestic sales, spurred by orders from the Bangkok Auto Show, increased by 2.54%, amounting to 48,394 units. Thailand holds the position of the largest car production hub in Southeast Asia, attracting automakers such as Toyota, Honda, BYD, and Great Wall Motors to establish their presence. The federation anticipates that car production will surge by 3%, reaching 1.5 million units by 2026.
