Zhang Guibing, the President of Chery International, has expressed that Chery is keen on entering the U.S. automotive market at the most opportune time in the future. However, as of now, there is no definitive timeline set for this move. The ultimate decision to step into the U.S. market will hinge on Chery's own level of preparedness and any shifts in industrial policies between China and the United States. The U.S. market, though vast, presents significant challenges for entry. Presently, electric vehicles produced in China are subject to a 100% tariff, and there are also constraints on intelligent connected vehicle technologies. Consequently, Chery has not yet considered the U.S. as part of its export markets. At present, the primary markets for Chinese automakers are concentrated in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Some automakers are boosting their overseas production capabilities by forming partnerships with traditional European automakers. Meanwhile, others are setting up manufacturing operations in the U.S. under non-Chinese brands or expanding in areas like Mexico, using them as a launchpad to penetrate the North American market. Automakers such as BYD and Xiaomi currently do not have any intentions to sell passenger vehicles in the U.S.
