On May 17, reports surfaced indicating a divergence in Tesla's pricing strategies between the Chinese and U.S. markets. In the United States, Tesla has confirmed price increases for multiple configurations of the Model Y. Specifically, the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive and All-Wheel Drive versions have each seen a price hike of $1,000, while the Performance version has increased by $500. This marks the first direct price increase for the Model Y since 2024. Conversely, in the Chinese market, Tesla China has refuted rumors of a price increase for the Model Y, clarifying that the official suggested retail price—also known as the official guide price—remains unchanged. The company attributed the perceived price hike to adjustments in vehicle purchase financing policies.
