MIIT’s Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization Department Organizes Research and Symposium on Recycling and Utilization of New Energy Vehicle Power Batteries

On May 14th, reports emerged indicating that the Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) is set to conduct research on the recycling and utilization industry of new energy vehicle (NEV) power batteries in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, from May 12th to 13th, 2026. The research team will convene symposiums with key enterprises and industry experts to gather insights and recommendations.

Participating units in this research include the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), China Resources Recycling Group, and the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province. During the research period, the team will visit companies such as GAC Group Youmei Recycling Technology Co., Ltd., and Sunwoda Electronic Co., Ltd., to gain a comprehensive understanding of how automotive companies recycle and utilize waste power batteries, as well as how battery manufacturers fulfill their recycling responsibilities.

At the symposium, China Resources Recycling Group will present the research findings from the project titled "Recycling and Utilization of New Energy Vehicle Power Batteries." Representatives from companies such as Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL), BYD, and Changan Automobile, along with research institutions like the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and the China Electronics Standardization Institute, will engage in discussions on the current state of the industry, identify existing problems and challenges, and propose policy recommendations.
