On May 14, following in the footsteps of BYD, a number of new energy vehicle companies have recently signaled price adjustments. Some have directly increased the prices of certain models, while others have opted for a more subtle approach, gradually reducing purchase incentives in what can be described as a low-key "price hike" maneuver (tàn shì, meaning 'test the waters'). According to incomplete statistics, over 10 new energy vehicle companies have either announced price adjustments, reduced incentives, or have plans to raise prices in the second quarter. Specifically, BYD has raised the price of its intelligent driving option package for certain models by more than 2,000 yuan. Changan Qiyuan's Intelligent Laser Edition has seen a price increase of 3,000 yuan. Xiaomi's new generation SU7 has experienced a price hike of 4,000 yuan across all variants. Tesla's Model Y Long-Range and Performance versions have been increased by 18,000 yuan and 20,000 yuan, respectively. Furthermore, automakers such as NIO and XPENG have also hinted at intentions to raise model prices in the second quarter. Brands like Tesla, Zeekr, and Avatr have tightened their financial interest-free purchase policies, resulting in an uptick in the hidden costs associated with buying a car.
