Recently, Jaguar officially disclosed the name of its latest all-electric luxury GT model: the Type 01. This new model, previously known as the Type 00 concept car and internally codenamed X900, is set to make its debut later this year, with a market launch planned for the first half of 2027. Positioned as a high-performance four-door sports sedan, the Type 01 is rumored to boast a power output exceeding 1,000 horsepower.
The nomenclature 'Type' pays homage to Jaguar's storied heritage, linking the new model to its classic predecessors. The '0' signifies zero emissions, underscoring the vehicle's electric nature, while the '1' denotes its status as the inaugural model of a new era for Jaguar.
This weekend, a camouflaged prototype of the Type 01 will make a public appearance on a track ahead of the Monaco FE Formula E race, offering enthusiasts a tantalizing glimpse of what's to come.
In terms of pricing, the new Jaguar Type 01 is expected to start at £120,000, with higher-specification variants surpassing the £150,000 mark. Looking ahead, Jaguar has hinted at the possibility of introducing additional models based on the JEA platform, including the Type 02 large luxury sedan and the Type 03 SUV.
