On May 13, according to data released by consulting firm Benchmark Mineral Intelligence on Wednesday, global demand for electric vehicles rose for the second consecutive month in April, mainly due to high gasoline prices prompting buyers to abandon fuel-powered vehicles. BMI stated that the number of newly registered battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles increased by 6% year-on-year in April, reaching 1.6 million units, though this was a 9% decrease from the record high in March.
