On May 13, Yonhap News Agency reported that Hyundai Motor Group announced on Wednesday its participation in an autonomous vehicle demonstration project led by the Gwangju Metropolitan Government in South Korea, aiming to test and optimize its mobility solutions. Hyundai Motor, along with Kia, signed a memorandum of understanding in Gwangju with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Gwangju Metropolitan Government, and mobility startups Autonomous A2Z and Ride Flux. Under the agreement, the two automakers will develop approximately 200 autonomous vehicles based on the Ioniq 5 electric model and launch autonomous mobility services in Gwangju, including vehicle dispatch and fleet management.
