On April 15, during the pre-sale launch event for the XPENG GX, He Xiaopeng, the CEO of XPENG Motors, once again weighed in on the ongoing debate about 'whether to skip Level 3 autonomous driving technology.' He emphasized that the array of technological strategies present in the market is a healthy sign of diversity. However, he underscored that ultimately, safety is a criterion that must be substantiated by concrete data. From a safety standpoint, He Xiaopeng posited that the most judicious course of action is to make a direct leap from L2 to L4 autonomous driving. This approach, he explained, would allow for the accumulation of ample data, with safety taking precedence at every step, while simultaneously fostering advancements in policy frameworks.

He Xiaopeng further elucidated that achieving Level 4 autonomous driving necessitates not only ensuring safety but also attaining full autonomy. He pointed out that if a system can only guarantee safety without achieving complete autonomy, it essentially remains at the Level 2 stage.
