On April 7, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, took to platform X to champion the Full Self-Driving (FSD) intelligent driving assistance system. He contended that the technology has the potential to avert 90% of traffic accident fatalities annually. However, he also acknowledged that Tesla might still be embroiled in legal battles over the remaining 10% of fatal cases. Musk highlighted a video demonstrating a Tesla vehicle employing automatic steering to steer clear of pedestrians, underscoring the life-saving potential of autonomous driving technology. Concurrently, he conceded that FSD has its limitations and lamented that 90% of individuals whose lives were potentially saved by the system remained oblivious to their narrow escape. At present, FSD is under intense external scrutiny, with the NHTSA's investigation progressing to the engineering analysis stage. Investor Ross Gerber has also voiced criticism, asserting that FSD falls short of true autonomous driving capabilities, remaining confined to Level 2 assisted driving.
