According to the latest 'China Automobile Dealers Inventory Warning Index Survey' (VIA) published by the China Automobile Dealers Association, in March 2026, the inventory warning index for Chinese auto dealers stood at 57.5%. This marks a year-on-year increase of 2.9 percentage points and a month-on-month rise of 1.3 percentage points, keeping the index above the threshold that separates expansion from contraction in the automotive market. The survey further indicates that 35.7% of dealerships are under moderate inventory pressure, 23.6% are experiencing significant pressure, and 14.3% are grappling with severe overstocking. In contrast, only 12.1% of dealerships maintain reasonable inventory levels.
