Several departments have jointly released the Intelligent Shipping 2030 Action Plan, outlining a strategic vision to set up extensive intelligent shipping pilot initiatives in key areas, including the Yangtze River Delta and the Bohai Rim regions. This plan also aims to propel autonomous navigation projects forward for formations of inland and coastal cargo vessels. Concurrently, representative routes will be chosen to serve as testbeds for intelligent shipping projects, with a focus on bolstering infrastructure development and experimenting with pertinent regulatory measures. Furthermore, the plan envisions the exploration of establishing an international intelligent shipping corridor and will identify pilot vessels (or fleets) for intelligent shipping based on their technological sophistication and practical efficacy, thereby expediting the commercialization journey of intelligent vessels.
