On March 19, the State Administration for Market Regulation issued a notice detailing the nationwide recalls of automobiles and consumer products in 2025. During that year, China initiated 190 auto recalls, encompassing 6.846 million vehicles. This reflects a year-on-year decrease of 18.5% in the number of recalls and a 39.1% drop in the number of vehicles involved. Specifically, there were 105 recalls targeting new energy vehicles, involving 2.652 million vehicles, which constituted 38.7% of the total recalls for the year. Additionally, 13 recalls were carried out through over-the-air (OTA) updates, covering 1.756 million vehicles, or 25.7% of the total. Furthermore, 55 recalls were prompted by the supervision of the State Administration for Market Regulation, involving 2.934 million vehicles, making up 42.9% of the total. By the end of 2025, China had accumulated a total of 3,265 auto recalls, covering 121 million vehicles.
