Tesla has signed a $4.3 billion agreement with LG Energy Solution to establish a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery factory in Lansing, Michigan, with production scheduled to commence in 2027. The U.S. government stated that the plant will produce prismatic LFP battery cells to support Tesla's Megapack 3 energy storage equipment manufactured in Houston. This move is part of the U.S. plan to expand domestic battery production and reduce reliance on Chinese batteries.
