On March 17, news emerged that XPENG Motors held an 'Ask Me Anything' livestream session on March 16. During this event, He Xiaopeng, the Chairman and CEO of XPENG Motors, unveiled the rollout timeline for the second-generation Vehicle-Level Architecture (VLA) across different vehicle models. The deployment will commence progressively from March 19, starting with the P7 Ultra, and subsequently extending to the G7 and X9 Ultra models. Owners of the P7, G7, and X9 models will receive software updates in a sequential manner (shùlù, which translates to 'successively' or 'one after another') throughout this month. Moving into April, updates will also begin for models such as the 2026 XPENG P7+ Ultra|Ultra SE (available in both pure electric and extended-range variants), 2026 XPENG G9 Ultra|Ultra SE, 2026 XPENG G6 Ultra|Ultra SE (also featuring pure electric and extended-range options), and the XPENG G7 Ultra|Ultra SE (extended-range version).
Addressing the distinctions between versions, He Xiaopeng clarified that the Ultra variant is engineered to enable L4-level autonomous driving capabilities, facilitating full-scenario operation. In contrast, the Max version is tailored for L2-level assisted driving, making it primarily suitable for high-frequency driving scenarios, including highways and urban main roads.
