These ads boast claims like "installation without damage, warranty and annual inspections unaffected." Nevertheless, experts within the industry caution that such alterations are not only against the law but also introduce a myriad of safety risks. These modifications can disrupt the vehicle's original electrical system, interfere with the original battery management system, and heighten the likelihood of battery thermal runaway. Moreover, the battery packs installed in the trunk lack the collision protection provided at the factory level. Furthermore, vehicles that have undergone such modifications may encounter difficulties in filing insurance claims. Consequently, vehicle owners are advised to exercise caution when encountering such advertisements to steer clear of legal and safety predicaments.
