On March 12, Honda Motor announced that due to a reassessment of its electric vehicle (EV) strategy, it expects to provision expenses and losses of up to ¥2.5 trillion (approximately $15.7 billion). Affected by the slowdown in the North American EV market and intensified competition, Honda has canceled the development plans for several pure EV models and recognized impairment losses on its investments in China. This strategic adjustment is expected to result in a net loss of ¥420 billion to ¥690 billion for Honda in fiscal year 2025, marking its first annual loss since going public.
