In February, Tesla experienced a remarkable upswing in the sales of its electric vehicles manufactured in China. The Shanghai factory delivered a total of 58,600 Model 3 and Model Y units, reflecting a substantial 91% year-on-year increase, despite a 15.2% decrease from the previous month. This milestone marks the fourth consecutive month of growth in domestic vehicle sales for Tesla. The February sales figures were influenced by seasonal variations, notably the partial shutdowns at the Shanghai factory during last year’s Lunar New Year celebrations, which disrupted delivery timelines. The initial two months of the year, coinciding with the Lunar New Year holiday, are traditionally a hectic period for the Chinese automotive sector, affecting both production and consumer demand. Meanwhile, the Shanghai factory remains a pivotal component of Tesla’s global supply chain.
