BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. has submitted a recall plan, stating that starting from March 16, 2026, it will recall a specific batch of imported BMW 2 Series and other models manufactured between July 31, 2020, and December 22, 2022, amounting to a total of 147,830 units. Owing to a flaw in the production of the starter motor, internal abnormal wear may take place after numerous starts, which, in extreme cases, could lead to a fire hazard. To mitigate this potential risk, BMW will replace the faulty starter motors with enhanced ones free of charge for affected vehicle owners.
