Since assuming the role of VP of Finance in 2021, Palani has twice rejoined Tesla, amassing a wealth of experience spanning pivotal domains such as finance, engineering, and manufacturing. His departure arrives at a pivotal moment in Tesla's strategic evolution, as the company pivots its attention towards ambitious artificial intelligence initiatives, encompassing self-driving taxis and humanoid robots. Concurrently, Tesla's core electric vehicle (EV) business is grappling with challenges, including sluggish demand in the U.S. market and escalating competition within the industry, leading to a consecutive two-year decline in sales. Notably, Palani is not the sole high-ranking executive to depart recently; several business unit leaders have also exited the company in recent times.
