On Tuesday, South Korea’s antitrust regulator disclosed that Mercedes-Benz has been slapped with a fine of 11.2 billion won (around $7.61 million) for providing misleading information to consumers regarding the battery suppliers for certain electric vehicle models. Specifically, Mercedes-Benz’s sales materials indicated that all EQE and EQS models were equipped with CATL batteries. However, in reality, some of these vehicles were fitted with Farasis Energy batteries—a detail that was neither communicated to dealers nor disclosed to consumers.
