XPENG Motors has announced that on March 11, it will simultaneously initiate test-drive events for vehicles equipped with its second-generation Vision-Language-Action (VLA) intelligent driving system at 732 dealerships across the country. Participating models include the brand-new XPENG P7 Ultra, G7 Ultra, X9 Ultra, and P7+ Ultra, offering the public their first large-scale opportunity to experience the system firsthand. The second-generation VLA architecture employs a multimodal large model to process environmental data and generate driving decisions, streamlining the traditional multi-layered approach. Test results indicate notable improvements in several key performance indicators compared to the previous generation, particularly enhancing the system’s ability to handle complex driving scenarios. Later in March, the system will be fully deployed in Ultra or Ultra SE variants of the P7, G7, and X9 models, with expansion to additional models—such as the G7 and 2026 versions of the P7+/G9/G6—scheduled to begin in April. Moreover, Robotaxi vehicles equipped with this system have already commenced public road testing, with trial operations planned for later this year. XPENG also intends to launch global road tests, with the goal of achieving worldwide availability by 2027.
