Recently, SAIC Volkswagen has proudly announced the official rollout of its first EA211 premium range extender, which is set to make its debut in the ID.ERA 9X model. Serving as the cornerstone powertrain configuration for the MQB platform, the EA211 engine family encompasses displacements ranging from 1.0L to 1.6L, boasting a cumulative domestic installation base surpassing 20 million units. Renowned worldwide for its steadfast and dependable performance, the EA211 engine has earned widespread acclaim. The newly launched EA211 premium range extender is ingeniously crafted upon the 1.5T EVO II turbocharged engine, integrating cutting-edge technologies such as VTG variable geometry turbochargers, deep Miller cycles, and a 350bar high-pressure fuel system. These innovations collectively contribute to its exceptional efficiency and minimal emissions. During rigorous extreme cold testing, the ID.ERA 9X, equipped with this state-of-the-art range extender, demonstrated remarkable performance by achieving a 0-100km/h acceleration time of merely 6.31 seconds, even under -30℃ conditions and with low battery levels. This impressive feat reflects only a marginal 0.8-second degradation compared to its fully charged state. Furthermore, the increase in interior noise levels when the range extender was activated was a mere 0.5 decibels, a testament to its outstanding balance of power and tranquility.
