This afternoon, BYD unveiled a teaser video for its highly anticipated Ocean Series flagship sedan, the Seal 08, providing a sneak peek at the new model’s exterior design. The vehicle is scheduled for its global premiere on March 5. As the latest addition to BYD’s Ocean lineup, the Seal 08 incorporates state-of-the-art technologies, including megawatt-level flash charging, rear-wheel steering, and second-generation blade batteries. It also carries forward the aesthetic principles established by the Ocean-S concept car.
Notably, the Seal 08 features a LiDAR sensor mounted on its roof, signaling the integration of an advanced intelligent driving assistance system. Built on an 800V high-voltage architecture, the vehicle can replenish up to 400 kilometers of driving range with just a five-minute charge, while its total pure-electric range is expected to surpass 1,000 kilometers. Additionally, the inclusion of rear-wheel steering technology enhances the vehicle’s agility and handling precision.
In December 2025, BYD officially announced its “Ocean 8 Series Dual Flagship” strategy, which includes the Seal 08 and the Sea Lion 08. Both models are anticipated to make their debut in the first quarter of 2026. The Seal 08 is positioned as a mid-to-large coupe-style sedan, blending performance, innovation, and sophisticated design.
