Recently, SAIC Volkswagen proudly unveiled the official launch of its inaugural EA211 Gold Extended-Range Engine. This cutting-edge engine will make its debut in the ID. ERA 9X model, with pre-sales slated to commence at the close of March. Since its debut in 2011, the EA211 engine family has adeptly balanced power and fuel efficiency through pioneering features, including high-strength die-cast aluminum alloy cylinder blocks and integrated exhaust manifolds. Boasting a cumulative national installed base surpassing 20 million units, it has rightfully earned the moniker of 'Gold Powertrain.' The newly introduced EA211 Gold Extended-Range Engine builds upon the foundation of the EA211 1.5T EVO II turbocharged engine and boasts six key strengths: 'compact design, high efficiency, steady output, low failure rates, minimal noise, and complete adaptability.' The extended-range engine integrates advanced technologies such as a VTG variable geometry turbocharger, a deep Miller cycle paired with a 350bar high-pressure fuel system, and a water-cooled integrated intercooler system. These innovations effectively boost power generation efficiency, curb emissions, and guarantee a stable power response. During rigorous extreme cold testing in Heihe, the ID. ERA 9X, equipped with this extended-range engine, showcased a stable and robust power output, even with a depleted battery and ambient temperatures plummeting to minus 30°C. The 0-100km/h acceleration time was merely 0.8 seconds slower than when the battery was fully charged, and the change in noise level inside the vehicle upon the extended-range engine's activation was less than 0.5 decibels, thoroughly validating its comprehensive prowess in both power and quietness. Fu Qiang, the Executive Deputy General Manager of Sales and Marketing at SAIC Volkswagen, proclaimed that the ID. ERA 9X boldly asserts its claim to 'redefine extended-range technology,' with its core confidence emanating from the 'Gold Hybrid System' propelled by the EA211 engine.
