On March 4, with the 2026 sessions of the National People's Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) on the horizon, Lei Jun, an NPC deputy and the founder of Xiaomi Group, emphasized that the current assisted driving features in intelligent vehicles still heavily depend on human drivers. He stressed that drivers must maintain their focus and concentration at all times while behind the wheel. Lei Jun also appealed to the media to intensify their efforts in publicizing the fact that the current assisted driving systems have not yet achieved Level 4 autonomy, cautioning drivers against lowering their guard.
