On March 1, BAIC New Energy's premium brand, ARCFOX, unveiled the pre-sale of its latest Alpha S5 model, which is available in six configurations with two powertrain options: pure electric and extended-range. Following subsidies, the pre-sale prices span from RMB 112,800 to RMB 173,800. The intelligent driving assistance system of the Alpha S5 is built upon the same technological foundation as the ARCFOX Alpha S (L3 version), which was among the first in China to receive a dedicated license plate for L3-level autonomous driving. Both models adhere to the same safety principles, leverage the same technological underpinnings, and follow an identical development trajectory, effectively democratizing L3-level autonomous driving technology by bringing it down to the L2 level for broader accessibility. The new vehicle is outfitted with the Yuanjing Intelligent Assisted Driving System, which incorporates DJI's 'Inertial Navigation Binocular Stereo Vision System' and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8775 cabin-driving-parking all-in-one chip. This setup enables urban NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) assisted driving functions without the need for high-precision maps. The extended-range variant is equipped with CATL's Xiaoyao extended-range dedicated battery, offering a CLTC pure electric range of 230km and a combined range of 1450km. It also supports a 15-minute fast charge to reach 80% capacity. The pure electric variant, on the other hand, provides an entry-level range of 630km and a maximum range of 720km, with support for 800V high-voltage ultra-fast charging at a rate of nearly 1km per second. Customers who place orders from now on will be eligible for seven exclusive benefits, with a combined value of up to RMB 25,888.
