On the afternoon of March 2, XPENG Motors unveiled its second-generation Vehicle with Learning Abilities (VLA) at a launch event. During the occasion, Chairman He Xiaopeng revealed that XPENG’s next-gen VLA is on the verge of launching comprehensive global road tests. These tests will prioritize assessing the vehicle’s performance under challenging overseas driving conditions, such as island circuits, cobblestone roads, irregular intersections, and complex right-of-way regulations.
He Xiaopeng explicitly stated that XPENG’s second-generation VLA will officially launch worldwide in 2027. In its “full-spec” form, it will compete with the world’s leading intelligent driving technologies, delivering benefits to users across the globe. Currently, models equipped with the second-generation VLA are undergoing routine L4 public road testing in Guangzhou. These vehicles are capable of completing full autonomous operations—including starting, driving, making temporary stops, picking up passengers, and restarting—without a driver in the main seat and without relying on maps within designated park areas.
