Recently, Musk’s statements regarding Tesla’s planned launch of Robotaxi services in California have once again been subjected to intense scrutiny. Despite Musk’s persistent claims that Tesla would roll out autonomous taxi services in the state, data from the California Department of Motor Vehicles indicates that Tesla’s autonomous driving road test mileage in California for 2025 remains at zero. Moreover, the company has failed to submit any valid test data for six years running. At present, Tesla merely possesses an entry-level testing permit and has not yet applied for the critical permit necessary for operations without safety drivers. In stark contrast, Waymo has already secured approval for commercial Robotaxi operations in California.
