Mercedes-Benz is currently developing an off-roader known as the 'Baby G', which is anticipated to make its market debut in 2027. Slated as an entry-level model within the esteemed G-Class series, this vehicle will come with two distinct powertrain choices: a hybrid variant and a pure electric one. The hybrid version will feature the same 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine as seen in the CLA, a component crafted by Horse Powertrain. Meanwhile, the pure electric iteration is projected to incorporate the eATS 2.0 dual-motor system, complemented by an 85kWh ternary lithium battery pack. This setup is expected to deliver a WLTP-estimated driving range of roughly 724.2 kilometers, with four-wheel drive as a standard feature. The wheelbase of the 'Baby G' is projected to remain under 4,400mm, rendering it more compact than its larger G-Class counterpart. Nevertheless, it will uphold the robust off-road aesthetic and preserve iconic design cues synonymous with the G-Class lineage.
