On February 17, according to the Financial Times, the EU is set to introduce new regulations requiring state-supported electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers to ensure that at least 70% of the components (excluding batteries) in their vehicles are produced within the EU. Additionally, at least 25% of aluminum products used in the construction industry and 30% of plastics for doors and windows must also be manufactured in the EU to qualify for government subsidies or public sector contracts. The 'Industrial Acceleration Act,' to be released on February 25, aims to protect EU industries, with measures including requiring public procurement tenders to consider carbon emissions factors. According to the draft legislation, new EVs, hybrid vehicles, and fuel cell vehicles that benefit from state Car purchase assistance (car purchase assistance) or are purchased/leased by public institutions must be assembled in the EU, with the majority of their components produced within the EU. Furthermore, the main components of automotive batteries must also originate from the EU.
