On February 4, in Changchun, Jilin Province, China FAW Group and the China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC) unveiled plans to merge their automotive testing operations, aiming to establish the world's premier automotive testing entity. This consolidation will be executed via an equity transfer, with CATARC securing a controlling interest in Changchun Automobile Testing Center, a subsidiary of FAW Group. Following the integration, CATARC's technical service offerings will expand to over 6,000 items, facilitating comprehensive testing and certification (covering 100% of requirements) for intelligent connected new energy vehicles. Moreover, it will pave the way for a holistic technical support framework, bolstering the global expansion of Chinese automotive brands. This move is set to advance China's assimilation into the global automotive standards system and foster a new industrial development landscape.
