The State Administration for Market Regulation, along with several other departments, convened a dedicated press conference focused on standardization in road traffic. During the event, Guo Shougang, Deputy Director of the No.1 Department of Equipment Industry at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, emphasized that the automotive sector stands as a vital cornerstone of the national economy. By 2025, China is projected to achieve unprecedented levels in automobile production and sales, with both production and sales of new energy vehicles expected to exceed 16 million units. Automotive standards are instrumental in propelling technological innovation forward. In light of this, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in concert with pertinent departments, is vigorously pushing forward automotive standardization initiatives: continually refining the standard framework and aiming to construct a globally preeminent automotive standard system; expediting the formulation of pivotal standards to safeguard product safety benchmarks, bolster vehicle safety and emergency response capabilities, and set safety standards for automated driving functions; concurrently, enhancing the enforcement of standards by providing comprehensive explanations of key technical specifications and reinforcing standard compliance and oversight. Looking forward, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will maintain its focus on the dual core goals of "high-quality development" and "high-level safety," accelerating the development of crucial standards to steer the automotive industry towards sustained growth through standard advancements.
