Recently, Chinese regulatory bodies have rolled out a new compulsory national standard titled the "Safety Technical Specifications for Automobile Door Handles" (GB 48001—2026). This standard is set to take effect on January 1, 2027. According to the regulation, all vehicles marketed in China are required to be fitted with mechanical release door handles. This ensures that, even in the event of a power failure, car doors can still be manually opened from both the interior and exterior of the vehicle. Moreover, the standard lays out precise guidelines concerning the placement zones, operational space, and the force required to operate door handles, all aimed at bolstering the overall safety performance of vehicles.
