On January 30th, news emerged that Lang Xianpeng, who previously served as the Senior Vice President of Autonomous Driving at Li Auto, took to his personal social media account to announce his shift from the autonomous driving domain to the humanoid robot research and development (R&D) sphere. He conveyed his eagerness to learn with humility and welcomed guidance and advice from all quarters.

Earlier reports indicated that Li Auto had restructured its R&D framework into three key teams: the foundational model team, the software entity team, and the hardware entity team. Lang Xianpeng is set to helm the hardware entity team, steering robot R&D initiatives while relinquishing his responsibilities in the autonomous driving sector.

Recently, Li Xiang, the CEO of Li Auto, clarified during an online company-wide gathering that, beyond its automotive endeavors, the company is poised to venture into the humanoid robot market, with the ambition to roll out pertinent products at the earliest opportunity.
