On January 22 (local time), Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, announced that Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, which still necessitates driver oversight, could potentially receive approval in China as soon as next month. He also mentioned that the approval timeline in China might coincide with that in Europe. In reaction to Musk's statement, a responsible person from Tesla China clarified that, at present, there is no pertinent information available, and there have been no fresh updates regarding the launch of the FSD system in the Chinese market. Securing approval for the FSD system is a crucial strategy for Tesla to counteract the slowdown in its electric vehicle sales. Last year, Tesla witnessed a drop in vehicle registrations and a decline in its market share in California. Meanwhile, Chinese automakers have emerged as formidable competitors. Musk revealed that Tesla is striving to create growth opportunities by boosting its software revenue.
