On January 23, Nissan Motor made a public announcement regarding a significant agreement reached with Chery South Africa. Once certain conditions, including regulatory approvals, are met, Chery South Africa is set to acquire the land, buildings, and associated assets of Nissan's manufacturing facility in Roslyn, South Africa, along with the adjacent stamping plant, in the middle of 2026. As per the terms of the agreement, a substantial majority of the current Nissan employees at the plant will be offered employment by Chery South Africa. Post-acquisition, Nissan will persist in its vehicle sales and after-sales service operations within the South African market. Moreover, the company has outlined plans to introduce several new vehicle models during the 2026 fiscal year.
