Hon Hai Partners with Mitsubishi FUSO to Foray into Electric Bus Market, Targeting Orders by 2027

On January 22, 2026, Hon Hai convened a press conference in Japan, unveiling its strategic plan to forge a new joint venture with Mitsubishi FUSO Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) in the latter half of the year. Both entities will maintain an equal 50% stake in the venture. Headquartered at the Toyama plant, the newly established firm will concentrate on the research, development, and manufacturing of electric buses. Its ambition is to commence accepting orders for large-scale electric buses in Japan starting from 2027 and subsequently venture into international markets. The CEO of this nascent company will be Takarokuhiro, who currently heads MFTBC's bus division, while the corporate headquarters will be situated in Kawasaki City.
