On January 22 at noon, BYD's Legal Department released a notice regarding a recent court verdict in a lawsuit filed by BYD against auto blogger Yao *qiang, who operates under the Douyin (Chinese equivalent of TikTok) account 'Daqin Junshantuan'. The court concluded that Yao *qiang had concocted and circulated false information concerning Fangchengbao Auto. This act tarnished the commercial and product reputation of both BYD and its Fangchengbao brand, amounting to commercial defamation. Consequently, the court mandated the defendant to pay 2.01 million yuan in damages. BYD expressed its respect for public oversight but underscored that the internet is not a realm beyond the law. The company reiterated its commitment to employing legal measures to protect its lawful rights and interests.
