Li Yunfei of BYD remarked that the company stands as the primary target of malicious public relations tactics and orchestrated online smear campaigns. BYD's Legal Division has announced that a verdict has been rendered in the initial trial of its legal action against automotive blogger Yao *Qiang (operating under the Douyin alias 'Daqin Junshantuan'). The court found the defendant culpable of commercial defamation for concocting and disseminating misleading information regarding Fangchengbao vehicles, and consequently, mandated him to pay 2.01 million yuan in compensation. BYD reiterated its commitment to vigorously defending its lawful rights and interests via legal channels. The dispute arose from a 2023 review video by 'Daqin Junshantuan' of the Fangchengbao 5, where the recorded fuel consumption vastly diverged from the manufacturer's official figures. Fangchengbao's analysis uncovered multiple instances of aberrant driving conduct on the day in question, which the company deemed to pose a risk to public safety and inflict reputational harm, leading to the decision to pursue legal action. The blogger asserted that he had already accepted penalties from traffic management authorities, while BYD's Legal Division had earlier resolved to initiate legal proceedings against him, seeking a public apology and 5 million yuan in damages.
