The UK government has unveiled a subsidy initiative aimed at facilitating the purchase of electric trucks, with transportation companies invited to submit their applications prior to March of this year. The program boasts a substantial total budget of £318 million, roughly equivalent to €370 million. The subsidy amount allocated for each vehicle is contingent upon its value and the permissible gross weight it can carry. Specifically, for tractors or chassis vehicles tipping the scales at over 26 tons, the subsidy per vehicle is capped at a maximum of £120,000, which is approximately €140,000. Data indicates that during the first three quarters of 2025, the UK witnessed the registration of over 2,200 new electric trucks (with a gross weight surpassing 3.5 tons), representing 6% of the total truck market share over the same timeframe.
