Charging fees for advanced driver-assistance systems has ceased to be a new concept, yet Tesla CEO Elon Musk's formal declaration still managed to capture the world's automotive spotlight. On January 14, Musk took to a social media platform to announce that, effective February 14, 2026, Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) service will scrap the one-time purchase option and fully transition to a subscription-based model. Blogger @Sawyer Merritt, in the comments section, divulged that the service would be priced at $99 per month or $999 annually.
