The extended-range electric technology developed by Chinese automaker Leapmotor is set to be adopted by multiple European brands within the Stellantis Group. Leapmotor is launching its B10 and C10 SUVs internationally, offering both pure electric and extended-range variants. Notably, the C10 extended-range model can travel approximately 950 kilometers on a full charge and full tank, emitting only 10 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer under WLTP conditions. Tianshu Xin, CEO of Leapmotor International, mentioned that they are considering incorporating extended-range technology into the product portfolios of other Stellantis brands, serving as a transitional approach for electrification in Europe. Stellantis owns a 51% stake in Leapmotor International, and their partnership goes beyond mere technology exports. Future Leapmotor models in Europe may be developed using existing Stellantis platforms, with the B10 set to be produced on the same assembly line as certain other models to cut costs. Moreover, Leapmotor's vertically integrated supply chain system paves the way for in-depth collaboration between the two entities in areas such as component sourcing and the provision of three-electric systems.
