On January 14, 2026, FAW-Volkswagen Jetta unveiled a significant strategic upgrade in Chengdu. This move marks its evolution from a brand centered around a single product to a technology-driven enterprise encompassing the entire value chain, spanning research and development (R&D), production, supply, and sales. By amalgamating resources from the local government, FAW China, and Volkswagen Germany, the newly formed entity aims to bolster its independent R&D prowess. It will concentrate on key areas including innovative vehicle architectures, intelligent assisted driving systems, and smart cockpit technologies. The company has outlined plans to introduce five new models before 2028, with four of them being new energy vehicles. The inaugural new energy model is anticipated to make its market debut in 2026.
