36Kr has reported that Mercedes-Benz and BMW have communicated their preliminary demand forecasts for 2026 to their domestic supply chains. The projections indicate that the estimated annual sales volume for domestically manufactured models from both automakers will fall below 500,000 units, effectively reverting to the sales levels witnessed in China a decade prior. In 2025, Mercedes-Benz delivered 551,900 vehicles in China, reflecting a 19% year-on-year decrease, while BMW sold 625,500 units, experiencing a 12.5% year-on-year decline. In the face of intense competition from Chinese luxury brands, Mercedes-Benz is set to unveil more than 15 new products in 2026. BMW, for its part, will introduce over 20 new models, aiming to reverse the current trend through a robust product launch strategy.
