Mercedes-Benz has issued a cautionary notice to a select group of EQB all-electric SUV owners, urging them to configure their charging limit to no more than 80% to mitigate potential battery safety hazards. The vehicles affected, numbering 169 in total, primarily consist of EQB300 4MATIC and EQB350 4MATIC models manufactured between 2022 and 2023, along with a minor quantity of EQB250 variants. Vehicles produced after this period are not encompassed within this recall. This isn't the inaugural instance where Mercedes-Benz has implemented such precautions for the EQB owing to fire hazards. The automaker cautions that issues may arise whether the vehicle is in motion or stationary. Notably, this recall does not necessitate battery replacements; instead, Mercedes-Benz intends to roll out software updates for affected owners in early 2026. The 80% charging restriction notably impacts the EQB350's performance. While the vehicle boasts a full-charge range of 366 km, this limit reduces the range to approximately 290 km. Factoring in a safety margin, the actual usable range is estimated to be around 242 km.
