Among them, nine advanced to the road traffic pilot phase, but only Chang'an Deepal and BAIC Arcfox secured product certification approval. Chang'an Deepal has earned authorization for the certification of intelligent connected vehicle products featuring L3 autonomous driving capabilities, allowing for autonomous navigation within a single lane on designated roads. The Traffic Management Detachment of the Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau conferred upon Chang'an Automobile the nation's inaugural official license plate specifically designated for L3 autonomous driving, heralding a fresh era of legally compliant commercialization for autonomous driving technology in China. L3 autonomous driving stands as a pivotal milestone, bridging the gap between assisted driving and fully autonomous systems. In specific scenarios, the vehicle's system can independently execute driving tasks; however, the driver must remain prepared to intervene under exceptional circumstances. Presently, the inaugural batch of 46 Chang'an Deepal vehicles equipped with L3 autonomous driving technology has officially embarked on large-scale road traffic operations in Chongqing.
